This article is intended to explain how to avoid potential microphone and camera permissions and accessibility issues related to an email application's web-view.
When opening a session link on a mobile device, email applications such as outlook and gmail can automatically open the link in their native web-view instead of using the default browser on the mobile device. This can prevent the mobile device from sharing access to the camera and microphone in the session or joining the video session.
To avoid potential audio/video issues related to your email applications web-view, use the following steps to ensure you are joining the session directly in a supported Browser:
Open the session in your default web-browser:
- Close the WebView browser tab
- Navigate back to your session notification
- Hold down the link instead of tapping it - this can open a preview of the session page as well
- Select "Open Link" to open the link in the default browser set to your mobile device.
Copy the link and paste into a supported browser
- If your default browser is not a supported browser, which include Safari, Chrome, Firefox and Microsoft Edge you can copy the link and paste it directly into a supported browser
- Open your notification and hold down the link in the message
- Tap "Copy Link"
- After copying, open a support browser such as Chrome
- Paste the link directly into the url/search bar of that browser
